This week marked the exciting launch of the Finnish AI Region's (FAIR) cutting-edge education portal. Open to all, this dynamic platform offers a diverse array of courses covering a spectrum of topics, ranging from coding to artificial intelligence, augmented reality (XR), 3D printing fundamentals, high-performance computing, to cybersecurity.

What sets the FAIR Education Portal apart is its user-friendly roadmap, allowing individuals to tailor a curriculum that precisely aligns with their unique needs. This personalized approach ensures a targeted development of expertise.

Among the featured courses are industry favorites like Elements of AI, Introduction to Cryptography, AI with Python, and Introduction to the Practice of 3D Scanning. 

All the courses on the platform are meticulously selected by FAIR experts and delivered in collaboration with well-known institutions such as Aalto University, the University of Helsinki, Haaga-Helia, Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, MinnaLearning and FAIR's esteemed partners, including Microsoft.

Educational Portfolio is set to Expand in Spring

Research Area Director at Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences, Timo Kaski, expresses his satisfaction with the launch of the user-friendly educational portal. Kaski sees this development as a crucial stride forward, streamlining the process of Finnish SMEs mastering new technologies.

"The consolidated educational options serve as a one-stop solution, expediting and simplifying the evolution of expertise within the country. Simultaneously, it fosters closer collaboration both within the education sector and among the partners of the Finnish AI Region," he contemplates.

Excitingly, FAIR's course offerings are set to expand throughout the spring, incorporating additional training programs from European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIH). This strategic move aims to provide participants with an even broader spectrum of skills aligned with the latest industry demands.

What is the Finnish AI Region

The Finnish AI Region provides businesses with accessible expertise in the realms of artificial intelligence, augmented reality, high-performance computing, and cybersecurity. Offering complimentary services, FAIR operates on the principle of fostering genuinely beneficial partnerships. By doing so, it aims to expedite and broaden the integration of artificial intelligence in small and medium-sized enterprises.

FAIR comprises a consortium of ten diverse partner organizations, collaboratively delivering services through a comprehensive network. Among the key contributors are the cities of Helsinki, Espoo, and Vantaa, alongside prestigious institutions such as Aalto University, the University of Helsinki, Haaga-Helia, and the Metropolia University of Applied Sciences. The partnership also includes KIRAHub, the IT Center for Science CSC, and the European Innovation and Technology Institute EIT Digital.

Enter Espoo stands as its affiliate partner, and FAIR engages in fruitful collaborations with renowned entities like ABB, Arcada University of Applied Sciences, Helsinki and Uusimaa Hospital District HUS, Microsoft, Siemens Healthineer's Varian Finland, and the Uusimaa Regional Council. Funding for FAIR's initiatives is sourced from the European Union in conjunction with Business Finland and the Helsinki Innovation Fund.
