HAAGA-HELIA journalism majors to cover the Baltic Sea summit

last modified 08.02.2010

Seven journalism majors from HAAGA-HELIA University of Applied Sciences will be covering the Baltic Sea Summit to be held in Helsinki on Wednesday the 10th of February, 2010. The students will be writing articles on and photographing the summit. Both the articles and the pictures will be published on the web site of the Baltic Sea Action Group Foundation responsible for the summit and printed in other publications by the foundation.

The summit will be attended by heads of state and of the cabinet from seven countries in the Baltic Sea region. Among others, the Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and H.M. King Carl XVI Gustav of Sweden have confirmed their attendance. The summit has been summoned by President Tarja Halonen and Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen.

Furthermore, the summit will be attended by a wide array of representatives of enterprises and organizations, including HAAGA-HELIA, committed to improving the condition of the Baltic Sea. The commitment of HAAGA-HELIA will be implemented though the participation of several courses: besides the journalism majors, management assistant majors will be translating documents into various languages.
